Join us during the season on Tuesday evenings anytime from 4 p.m. to 6:00 pm to assist with planting, watering, weeding and harvesting vegetables for the Ballard Food Bank. The time you spend in the Giving Gardens counts toward your annual P-Patch volunteer hours.
Around 6:30 p.m. we gather on the patio for food, libations and conversation. Even if you can’t make it in time to work on the food bank gardens you are welcome to join us on the patio. You do not have to commit for the entire season – drop in and join us to volunteer for the food bank anytime during the season. We hope to have a donation season that goes until October again and look forward to your support. If you are unable to join us on Tuesday evenings, you can volunteer/give in other ways: Weed & Water Giving Garden Plots: when you are at the garden, set aside a little time to assist with weeding and watering. Record your time in the Volunteer Log, your time counts toward your annual P-Patch hours. Giving Garden Gleaning: Summer are distracting in Seattle with the beautiful weather and fun activities. If you are unable to tend to your patch as you had planned, and know it needs to be harvested, let us know and we will glean your veggies for the Food Bank. Grow-A Row: Grow one, or a few, plants in your patch for the Giving Gardens. Bright ribbons will be available to mark your plants so the Giving Garden volunteers know to harvest the plant(s) each week. Donate Veggies: Any time you would like to donate from your own harvest, please leave vegetable in the bin marked “Giving Gardens” on the patio by Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Want a better understanding of how the Giving Garden program works?
